Introduction: Our 1 Pest + 1 Termite + 2 General CEUs Course has been designed to satisfy the Texas Structural Pest Control Service’s requirement that a Structural Applicator licensed in the categories of Pest and Termite obtain 1 CEU in the Pest category, 1 CEU in the Termite category and 2 General CEUs before renewing his/her license to apply pesticides. The lessons found in this course are described below.
German Cockroach: This training module explains how to identify a German cockroach and integrated pest management practices that can be employed to prevent and/or eradicate a German cockroach infestation.
Formosan Termites: This training module provides training on identification of Formosan termites, the types of damage they may cause, conditions promoting their presence at a site and integrated pest management practices that can be employed to eradicate a Formosan termite infestation.
Pesticide Emergencies, Spills and Misapplications – Part I: This lesson discusses the actions to take in the event of a pesticide leak, spill, misapplication or fire, and the requirements of the Community Right-to-Know Act are discussed.
Law: Federal Pesticide Laws – Part II: In this training module, one will learn about the federal laws that regulate the use of pesticides. This would include the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act (FDCA), Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Hazard Communication Standard (HCS), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Transportation Safety Act (TSA), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA Title III), Endangered Species Act (ESA).
